I am a huge fan of improving your life and your mental health with just a few good habits every morning. It’s hard for all of us. The Morning Miracle is probably one of the most life changing simple processes I have ever followed. He has a 6 minute and 60 minute version. I like to meet in the middle and spend about 30 min in the morning creating simple habits to make my entire life better. I am never healthier and happier than I am when I follow this process.
No one likes to hear this, but people with chronic anxiety, inflammation, digestive problems, acne, and insomnia probably need to cut alcohol down (or out). Some people need a little bit of help, but they are not addicted and the traditional programs are not the right fit. This Naked Mind is a great book, podcast, and online program that can help people adjust their relationship with alcohol.
There is no perfect diet for anyone, but the best written book I have ever seen that gives some basic information that just about anyone can follow is the 21 Day Sugar Detox . I love it for 2 reasons. The FAQ page truly covers every frequently asked question about a detox diet. It also has recipes that taste good for people who like to enjoy their food. There are a lot of practical takeaways from this method. Some people love the recipes the most and want more, so I suggest this 21 Day Sugar Detox Recipe Book. While this fits into a traditional “Paleo” style diet, I love it because it’s easily modified. If your program needs beans, they are easy to add. If you are pescetarian or even vegan, you can change the protein sources. It just just a nice clean eating guide if you are new to the whole food life.
Women who are trying to conceive really need excellent testing and workup, but most people have a pretty hard time finding the help they want. I think the best book ever written to help yourself through the process is The Infertility Cure . It explains everything, and you can pick and choose what you follow. For women who are trying to conceive and struggling emotionally, Everything Bitter is Sweet is a beautiful story about a woman’s journey as she works to build a family.
Many of the women that I see have trouble getting a handle on their feelings whether it is from PTSD, severe hormone imbalances, stress at home, or just being raised without coping skills. Behavioral therapy is fantastic, but it can be expensive and hard to find a good person who is covered by insurance. You can do some work at home with DBT and Anxiety Work.
